Wet zone versus the rest

The wet zone is inside the shower enclosure and directly around the bath taps. That needs tile, stone or glass. Everything else — the wall behind the toilet, the wall the basin sits on, the wall you face from the door — is fair game for wallpaper in a bathroom with a working extractor.

A downstairs cloakroom has no wet zone at all, which is why it is the single most rewarding room in the house to paper. It is tiny, so the cost is small, and nobody spends long enough in it to tire of a bold pattern.

Materials and ventilation

Use Textured. It is wipeable and tolerates the humidity swings of daily showering; Premium Textile is a fabric and does not belong in a bathroom. Run the extractor during and for fifteen minutes after a shower, as you would to protect paint.

Peel and stick is the wrong choice here — repeated humidity cycles work the adhesive loose at the edges.
