Accessibility
We want this store to be usable by everyone who wants to buy wallpaper, including people using a keyboard, a screen reader, voice control, high zoom or reduced motion. This page describes what we are aiming for, what we have done, where we know we fall short, and how to tell us when something blocks you.
What we are aiming for
We are working toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA as our design and build standard.
That is a target we build against, not a certification. We have not been audited by a third party, and we are not going to claim conformance we have not verified. When we do commission an audit, the result will be published here, good or bad.
Accessibility work here is continuous rather than a project with an end date. Every new page and component is built against the standard, and older ones are revisited as we touch them.
What is in place today
Keyboard
- Every interactive control is reachable and operable with a keyboard alone
- Visible focus indicators on all focusable elements
- A skip link to the main content at the top of every page
- Menus, dialogs and the cart drawer trap focus while open and return it on close
Screen readers
- Semantic headings in a logical order on every page
- Alt text on product, room and editorial imagery
- Labels tied to every form field, with errors announced and linked to the field they belong to
- Descriptive link text rather than "click here"
Vision
- Body text meets at least a 4.5:1 contrast ratio against its background
- The layout reflows without horizontal scrolling down to 320 pixels wide and up to 400 percent zoom
- Color is never the only way information is conveyed; color names appear as text as well as swatches
Motion
- Carousels, the announcement bar and decorative animation respect the operating system reduced motion setting
- Nothing auto-plays with sound
- No content flashes more than three times per second
Known gaps
Being straight about where we are weaker:
- The wall configurator is a visual tool. Crop adjustment relies on seeing the preview, and while the size, material and price controls are fully keyboard accessible, the crop frame is not yet usable without sight. If you want a mural set up for you, email us the wall size and the design and we will do it and send you a description of the result.
- The custom upload proof is delivered as an image. We will describe a proof in writing on request.
- PDF downloads such as the printable installation guide are not yet fully tagged. The same content is available as HTML on the installation guide page, which is the version we maintain.
- Third-party checkout and payment screens are outside our code. We have chosen providers who publish their own accessibility work, but we do not control those pages.
We are working on all four. If one of them is blocking you right now, email us and we will complete the task with you directly.
Tell us about a barrier
If something on this site stops you doing what you came to do, we want to hear about it, and we will treat it as a bug rather than a suggestion.
Email: [email protected] with "Accessibility" in the subject line.
Helpful to include, if you can:
- the page address
- what you were trying to do
- what happened instead
- the browser, operating system and any assistive technology you use
We reply within two business days with either a fix, a timeline for one, or a way to complete the task by email in the meantime. No order should ever be impossible to place because of something on our side; if the site is in your way, we will take the order directly.
