What makes a design vintage

Vintage in our catalogue means the artwork references a real printing tradition — engraved botanical plates, hand-coloured maps, old wallpaper documents — rather than being a new design given a sepia filter. The tell is in the line work: real engraving has varying line weight, which is what gives it depth.

Making it work in a real room

Vintage designs need warmth in the room to avoid looking dusty: timber, brass, warm lamplight. They are superb in studies, dining rooms and hallways, and they are the most reliable way to give a new-build house a sense of age. On Textured, the fine emboss gives the paper grain in the artwork a physical surface, which is the closest a print gets to the original.

How ordering works

Every mural is printed to the wall size you enter, so there is nothing to cut down and nothing left over. Measure the wall at its widest and tallest point, type those numbers in, and the price updates as you go. Every panel is printed with a trim allowance on each edge, free, for a clean finish at the ceiling and baseboard.
